Home sponsorship isn't limited to mission teams. You can sponsor the construction of a home directly, providing them with a safe place to live and the foundation for a brighter future.
Home Sponsorship FAQs
How much does it cost to sponsor a home?
Home sponsorship is $12,000 CAD and includes the materials and labour needed to construct a safe, secure home for a family in the Dominican Republic.
We believe in empowering local communities, which is why our homes are built primarily by local tradespeople and workers, with mission teams joining alongside them to assist throughout the entire construction process.

How are families selected to receive a home?
Families are selected through a careful and transparent application process. Individuals interested in receiving a home must first meet with The Samaritan Foundation and complete an application. Each application is reviewed and verified by an independent selection committee. Once approved, eligible families are entered into a quarterly random draw to determine who will receive a home.
Will I receive updates about the home I sponsor?
Yes. We want you to be part of the journey!
Throughout construction, we will share updates on the progress of your sponsored home and the continued growth of the village. When the home is completed and the family moves in, we will let you know so you can celebrate the impact of your generosity.

Can I visit the home or meet the family?
Yes! If you are traveling to the north coast of the Dominican Republic, we would be happy to help arrange a visit to see the home you sponsored.
We encourage you to reach out to us in advance so we can coordinate a time for you to visit the home and, when possible, meet the family.
Is my donation eligible for a charitable tax receipt?
Yes. Your home sponsorship donation is eligible for a Canadian charitable tax receipt. Tax receipts are issued each February for eligible donations made during the previous calendar year.
