Spruceland Paradise is the latest village currently under construction. The houses in this village are sponsored by the employees of Spruceland Millworks in Edmonton, Alberta. The first 25 houses were given to needy families in the fall of 2008. This was a tremendously emotional event for everyone involved. Many of the families were transported from their shack to their new house. Families were crying, laughing and celebrating in gratitude, despite the fact that it was raining and mud everywhere.
Currently, there are over 125 houses built to date. A children’s program and sunday school facility is finished, the church has almost reached completion and the school will be constructed in 2010. A new 20,000 gallon water reservoir is now providing fresh water for the residents of the village. We hope to finish this village by the end of 2011.
