Grace Children’s Hospital

Grace Children’s Hospital

Many children in Puerto Plata suffer from treatable illnesses and have no realistic opportunity to access the care they need. Grace Children’s Hospital addresses the desperate need for local, specialized paediatric care, following a “no child refused” policy. This means that every child seeking help, regardless of socioeconomic status, will receive state-of-the-art healthcare. Click here to find out more.

Village Infrastructure

Village Infrastructure

Giving toward our Village Infrastructure makes your contribution the hub of multiple donations. This donation of $5,000 will go toward knitting the communities together. Roads, buildings, and power are taken for granted in North America. What a blessing for everyone in the village to not have to walk on muddy streets but to have their homes on clean, paved roads. Contribute today and change a whole community’s daily experience.

Plumbing

Plumbing

Believe it or not, $500 will complete a house with plumbing in our villages. Your contribution is a crucial element to every house we build…would you help us provide this by donating today?

Village Playground

Village Playground

Consider helping children stay healthy and active within a safe environment by contributing $7,500 to build a village playground. How does a busy playground full of happy children change your attitude? We don’t just build villages to house people…we build them for people to enjoy their lives.

$7500 may be a large ask, but with help from your church family or schoolmates, reaching this goal may be more attainable than you think—you’d be surprised how quick you can reach your goal!

Chickens

Chickens

Help break the cycle of poverty by creating useful employment for locals. $100 buys them 10 chickens, including their food and vaccines.

Missionary Support

Missionary Support

Support our Samaritan Foundation Missionaries! John and Jane Huizinga are 100% dependent on donations for their annual income. Your generous support is what keeps us going and ensures that our efforts are sustainable and effective.

Vocational Class

Vocational Class

How can you provide a job opportunity for a child or adult in the Samaritan Foundation communities? Donating just $750 provides a full month of training at one of our vocational programs. Here they learn many skills in order to prepare them for the future! The options are endless…hairdressing, electrical, small engine repair, sewing, baking, and more.

Classroom

Classroom

Sponsor a whole school classroom for $10,000 and help approximately 30 children gain access to greater education! Imagine your children coming home from school, learning about life and it’s many opportunities, and knowing someone across the world paid for their education. What a great way to provide for the villages of The Samaritan Foundation.

House Painting

House Painting

Paint the town red…and a slew of other colours! For $200, you can add vibrancy and personality to the houses in our villages.

House Parging

House Parging

Yes, if it’s not done correctly it won’t stay up very long. To extend the life of the homes in The Samaritan Foundation villages, donate $1,000 to complete the parging of a house. Just donate today, we’ll do the rest!

Electricity

Electricity

Each home requires $500 of electrical work in order to be powered sufficiently. This may seem low, considering some of our homes cost the same to run every month. Donate today to keep the lights on in The Samaritan Foundation village homes!

Clean Water

Clean Water

Installing proper plumbing is one thing, keeping clean water running in our homes is another! Each home requires $1,000 for a clean water filter, keeping it safe for people to use and drink from. Please donate today so that this may be the story in all of our homes!

Tree

Tree

How do you make a house a home? One way to do so is to plant a tree! The Samaritan Foundation will dig the hole and plant a tree with your easy donation of $35. After making a village, the environment can get very muddy and very flat—adding foliage brings it back to life!

Roof

Roof

$1,000 will literally put a roof over a family’s head. These roofs are made out of galvanized metal and will last approximately 20 years. A roof over our heads is such a luxury; being able to sleep without getting rained on, vegetable gardens shaded, and an asset to keeping the spiders and snakes out! Please donate below and provide a roof today.

Doors/Windows

Doors/Windows

With your donation of $500, a house will get the doors it needs and 3–5 windows that are made on site through our vocational programs. Help bring light into these homes today!

Road

Road

We’ve experienced the frustration of driving on a road full of potholes. Imagine having to use roads that aren’t paved at all, and in and day out! Paved roads help eliminate mud issues and allow for safer travels for both pedestrians and vehicles. Keep these commutes safe by donating $5,000 to cover some of the cost of this transformation.

House

House

Dramatically change a family’s life by sponsoring the construction of a whole house. The cost is $6,000 for an entire house package—what a small price to pay to bless a family in need with one of the greatest gifts they could ever receive. And if you really want to enjoy the process, arrange to personally deliver the key to the new family by visiting the Dominican Republic once the house is complete!

Come Help

Plan your team trip today; volunteers are always welcome!

Is your office, school, church, youth group or club interested in making a difference in the lives of the poor in the Dominican Republic? We have several opportunities for you to get involved, such as work teams, medical teams, adult and children’s focus teams, and more!

Additional information and costs:
All visiting missions’ teams are asked to dedicate the mornings to the service of constructing homes, medical clinics, schools and/or churches for the needy. Depending on what facilities are being constructed during the visit, groups are asked for a minimum donation of $5,000 ($6,000 CND). This will include the sponsoring of one home for a needy family and some afternoon ministry costs. Additionally, we request $200 per participant for in-country expenses such as transportation, ice, water, excursions, translators, etc.

Every additional week is $1,000 to cover transportation and additional ministry costs.

If you are an individual looking to volunteer with us please complete our short term missions application form and we will contact you to discuss this exciting opportunity further.
